The GenusHydrangea
The most recent systematic treatment of the genus was authored by Elizabeth McClintock
and was published on November 5, 1957 in the "Proceedings of the California Academy
of Sciences", Fourth Series, Vol XXXIX, No. 5, pp. 147-256, with 10 maps & 6 plates. It
was published by The Academy in 1957 in San Francisco while Elizabeth McClintock was
Assistant Curator of Botany at the California Academy of Sciences. The taxonomic
hierarcy below is derived from Dr. McClintock's monograph.
